Compilatio Review: Expensive, Slow, and Disappointing?

Compilatio Review: Expensive, Slow, and Disappointing?

🧠 Introduction

Compilatio is a plagiarism and AI detection platform used heavily in Europe, especially in France and Italy. Unlike many competitors, Compilatio is not widely used in the United States, Canada, or the UK, where Turnitin dominates.

Compilatio advertises itself as a reliable AI detector with multilingual support, institutional integrations, and detailed similarity reports. But after purchasing credits and running multiple tests, we found results that were far from the company’s claims.

This review covers pricing, user experience, speed, testing results, market presence, and reviews.

💰 Pricing: Expensive With No Free Use

Compilatio offers no free scans. To use the AI detector, even for a single test, you must purchase credits.

Here is the pricing structure:

Credits Words Price
20 credits 5,000 words €4.99
80 credits 20,000 words €12.99
160 credits 40,000 words €19.99
400 credits 100,000 words €34.99

Each credit covers 250 words, which means even the small €4.99 pack only allows for a few tests.

This makes Compilatio one of the most expensive AI detectors we have reviewed.

🧪 AI Detection Results

We purchased the €4.99 plan (20 credits, 5,000 words) and ran tests in English.

Here are the results:

Text Type Result
AI Text 100% AI
Human Text 5% AI
TwainGPT Humanized 0% AI

TwainGPT bypassed Compilatio in every test.

🐌 Slow Performance

One of the biggest issues with Compilatio is speed.

Scans often take a long time to process, and many users on review sites report the same problem.

In our testing:

  • Each analysis took much longer than other detectors
  • Even simple scans took several minutes

The results may be accurate, but the slow processing greatly affects usability.

🌍 Market Presence

Compilatio is widely used in continental Europe, especially in:

  • France
  • Italy

Most Trustpilot reviewers appear to be from these regions, which reinforces the platform’s strong presence there.

In contrast, Turnitin, GPTZero, and ZeroGPT dominate the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the rest of the world.

💻 User Experience

The UI feels outdated and not very intuitive. It looks like the platform has not been updated in several years.

Considering the high pricing, the interface does not come close to meeting expectations.

🧬 Language Support

Compilatio claims strong multilingual support across many languages. For this review, we focused our testing on English.

Based on our results, English detection appears to be accurate, although performance may vary depending on the text.

🧾 Trustpilot Rating: 1.7 Stars

Compilatio has a 1.7-star rating on Trustpilot, with many users calling it slow, expensive, or inaccurate.

Here is one English review that stands out:

Antonio A said:

Super scam company. I made a report with their software 0%...after 10 (TEN!!!) minutes the report was 100%. When I asked an explanation one of their employees (Nicolas...however, it is only him who replies all emais...strange for a BIG company like them...anoter sign of scam) said exactly: "However, this result (high percentage of AI on report) is not proof that your text has been generated by an AI". Then they asked to reply. Dear Nicolas (if this is your real name) I have a question for you: if your software is not reliable (this is what you meant with your answer), why you promote it as 99.8% reliable? For sure you will not answer or maybe you will reply with vague answers as usual my dear super scammers!!! I saw your reply...Maybe you don't understand or you don't want to (maybe...for sure): stop saying silly excuses since as I cleartly told you I made a report and it was 0% AI and after 10 minutes the same text showed 100% AI...what happened during those 10 minutes? Please just admit your company is a super scam...also many people are complaining about your service...open your eyes and be honest once in your life...there are better ways to make money (not stealing from people).

This review matches many others complaining about slow results, inconsistent scores, and poor customer service.
