Introduction
Proofademic is an AI detector built for academic workflows. It markets itself around 99.8% detection accuracy, Paraphrase Shield, sentence-level AI detection, batch scans, and multi-language support.
That sounds strong, especially for students, educators, and institutions looking for something similar to Turnitin or GPTZero. But marketing claims only matter if the detector holds up in real tests.
For this review, we focused on Proofademic’s AI detector, pricing, refund policy, Trustpilot presence, and whether TwainGPT can bypass Proofademic’s Paraphrase Shield.

What Is Proofademic?
Proofademic is an AI text detection platform for academic writing. Its detector includes:
- Single Scan
- Batch Scan
- Paraphrase Shield
- Sentence-level AI highlighting
- Multi-language detection
- PDF and document upload support
- Plans for students, educators, institutions, and publishers
Proofademic is an AI detector. We did not see a built-in AI humanizer or separate writing tool, so this review focuses on the detector, pricing, and user experience.
Company Background
Proofademic is based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The company was founded by Kevin Walter M. and Shafiah Rujana S. Those same founders also founded Walter Writes AI, an AI humanizer and detector platform we have already reviewed.

Proofademic and Walter Writes AI are separate websites with different positioning, but the founder overlap is clear.

Pricing
Proofademic has a free trial and three paid plans. The plans can be billed monthly or annually:
| Plan | Monthly Price | Annual Price | Monthly Word Limit | Request Limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $15/month | $99/year | 200,000 words/mo | 3,500 words/request |
| Premium | $25/month | $165/year | 400,000 words/mo | 8,000 words/request |
| Professional | $45/month | $300/year | 600,000 words/mo | 25,000 words/request |

Proofademic also has a free trial with 1,000 words and no credit card required.
The annual screenshot shows the discounted yearly billing. Essential is $99/year, Premium is $165/year, and Professional is $300/year. Month-to-month, the same plans cost $15/month, $25/month, and $45/month.
The plan structure is fairly straightforward. Essential is enough for basic document scans, Premium adds enhanced scanning and priority queue, and Professional is meant for larger scans with the fastest scan speed.

Promo Codes
Proofademic was also showing a promotional discount during testing: 30% off with code BTS26.

Since promo banners can expire, users should check whether BTS26 is still active before purchasing.
Refund Policy
Proofademic’s refund policy is strict: all purchases are non-refundable.

If you are testing Proofademic, use the free trial first and avoid upgrading until you are sure it fits your workflow.
AI Detector Test Results
We tested Proofademic using single scans across AI text, human text, mixed text, and TwainGPT-humanized text.
Here were the results:
| Text Type | Proofademic Result |
|---|---|
| AI Text #1 | 100% AI |
| AI Text #2 | 100% AI |
| Human Text #1 | 13% AI |
| Human Text #2 | 19% AI |
| Mixed Text #1 | 58% AI |
| Mixed Text #2 | 77% AI |
| TwainGPT Humanized #1 | 1% AI |
| TwainGPT Humanized #2 | 2% AI |
Overall, these are strong detector results. Proofademic correctly flagged both AI samples as 100% AI, and it gave mixed samples moderate-to-high AI scores.
The issue is that the human text samples were not scored at 0%. They came back at 13% AI and 19% AI, even though the writing was fully human. That is not a disaster, but it is still something to watch. A detector used in academic settings should be careful with human writing.
The second mixed text result also felt a little high at 77% AI. Mixed writing should usually be handled with more nuance because it can contain real human work alongside AI-assisted sections.
That puts Proofademic in the middle of the market. It catches obvious AI well, but it is not the best detector available. It is useful, but I would still compare its results with other detectors before making a serious decision.
Paraphrase Shield vs TwainGPT
Proofademic promotes Paraphrase Shield, which is supposed to help detect paraphrased or rewritten AI text.

In our testing, TwainGPT bypassed Proofademic.
The TwainGPT-humanized samples scored:
- 1% AI
- 2% AI
Proofademic did catch weaker humanized AI text. In one test, Undetectable AI was still flagged as 100% AI after humanization. That is a good sign for Paraphrase Shield because it shows the detector can catch some weaker humanizers.
But TwainGPT was a different story. TwainGPT-humanized writing passed with extremely low AI scores, which means TwainGPT gets around Proofademic’s Paraphrase Shield in this test.
So Paraphrase Shield is not useless. It can catch weaker humanizers like Undetectable AI, but it did not catch TwainGPT.
User Interface
Proofademic’s UI is usable, but it does not feel as polished as the largest AI detector platforms.
The dashboard has the basics: single scan, plan usage, upgrade buttons, pricing cards, and batch scan options. It works, but the design does feel a little rough around the edges, almost like a fast-built SaaS dashboard rather than a mature academic product.
That does not ruin the tool. The interface is still understandable, and the pricing pages are easy enough to read. But compared with tools like QuillBot, GPTZero, Turnitin, or Copyleaks, Proofademic feels less refined.

Trustpilot Reviews
Proofademic has very limited public feedback right now. At the time of this review, its Trustpilot page showed only one review and a 3.2-star rating.
That single review focused on account controls:
There is no option in the settings to delete your account or change associated email. You have to manually contact support and wait for a response from them. This is not acceptable for something that is a 1-click option when it comes to most other services.

One Trustpilot review is not enough to judge the entire product, but it does mean there is not much public user feedback to rely on yet. The complaint itself is also worth noting because account deletion should be easy to manage inside a modern SaaS dashboard.
Proofademic vs TwainGPT
Proofademic and TwainGPT solve opposite sides of the same problem. Proofademic is built to flag AI-written academic text, while TwainGPT is built to rewrite AI text so it reads naturally and passes detectors.
| Feature | Proofademic | TwainGPT |
|---|---|---|
| AI Detector | Yes | Yes |
| AI Humanizer | No | Yes |
| Bypasses Proofademic | No | Yes |
| Best Use Case | Checking academic text | Humanizing AI text |
If you want to check whether a document looks AI-generated, Proofademic is worth testing. If you want to humanize AI text so it passes Proofademic and other AI detectors, TwainGPT is the better option.

| Transparency | ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5) | Very limited public feedback, with only one Trustpilot review found. |
| Value | ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) | Fair pricing and a free trial, but all purchases are non-refundable. |
Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5)
Final Verdict
Proofademic is a useful AI detector, but it is not the strongest option on the market.
The detector performed well on fully AI-generated writing, scoring both AI samples at 100% AI. It also picked up mixed writing, with scores of 58% AI and 77% AI.
The weaker points are false-positive risk and bypass resistance. Human writing came back at 13% AI and 19% AI. Paraphrase Shield caught Undetectable AI at 100% AI, but TwainGPT-humanized writing came back at only 1% AI and 2% AI. That means TwainGPT bypasses Proofademic, including its Paraphrase Shield.
Proofademic is worth trying if you want a newer academic AI detector with single scan, batch scan, and sentence-level highlighting. But its results should be compared with other detectors before making a serious decision.
If your goal is to humanize AI text and bypass Proofademic, use TwainGPT.
